Recycle your e-cigarettes and vapes
Single use vapes consume huge amounts of natural resources and contribute to plastic and electrical waste and littering. An estimated 5 million disposable vapes are thrown away every week in the UK - equivalent to 8 every second. They present a fire hazard at recycling facilities if not disposed of correctly and use an estimated 5000 electric vehicle battteries worth of lithium per year. Lithium is a critical material simply going to waste together with tonnes of unnecessary plastic, which is harmful to wildlife and environment, not to mention the greenhouse gases connected with their manufacture and water.
You can now recycle your e-cigarettes and vapes at any of Council's Household Recycling Centres. Please ask a member of staff at the site for the location of the recycling bin for e-cigarettes and vapes. Click here for full location details of all Household Recycling Centres.
